Laurie-Leigh White continues to serve as a leading expert, conducting lively discussion on a variety of topics. In November, she served alongside Shea Hancock and William Stewart at the TSCPA Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services Conference. The group covered the “nuts and bolts” of how to accomplish credible valuations of debt instruments, preferred stock and related issues, restricted stock considerations, stock options and other share-based compensation, and items to consider to maximize shareholder value. The following month, Laurie-Leigh teamed up with Daniel Kramer at the Louisiana Association for Justice Last Chance CLE. The pair presented information regarding the valuation of law firms. In January, Laurie-Leigh spoke at the Houston CPA Society Tax Expo. She advised tax professionals on how to talk to their clients about the importance of valuations and recommended the compilation of critical information for valuations. She also briefly covered the implications of the new tax reform on valuations. Rounding out the tour, Laurie-Leigh spoke alongside Owen Schmidt of Principal Financial at the Southwest ESOP Association Spring Conference in March. The pair discussed the new tax law's impact on existing ESOPs. The ESOP Association is America's largest employer-sponsored advocacy and education association focused on employee stock ownership plans.
